Brain-Training Programs

CRA ApproachWith the right training, an individual’s brain can be taught to overcome many learning and behavioral challenges. If your child struggles with difficulties related to Memory, Attention, Cognitive Processing, and Executive Functions, then our innovative brain-training programs may be able to help.

At the Learning Enhancement Centers, we use a variety of research-based cognitive therapy programs that can be personalized to help your child train her brain to conquer her challenges, as well as learn strategies to cope both in the classroom and at home.

Our Evidence-Based Brain Training Programs:

Processing and Cognitive Enhancement (PACE) begins with an intensive 12-week program that focuses on developing the cognitive processing skills critical to comfortable learning in an academic setting. Skills will be developed in the areas of auditory and visual processing, short and long term memory, processing speed, attention, logic and reasoning, and phonemic awareness. Skills are highly integrated throughout this program, as successful academic learning requires integration of skills.

Auditory Stimulation and Training (AST) is a music and sound stimulation method that focuses on re-educating the ear and auditory pathways for increased learning, attention, communication, listening, and sensory integration. This is accomplished through the use of specially modified classical music and nature sounds that stimulate the hearing mechanism to take in a full spectrum of sound. Through audio-vocal exercise, the learner’s voice becomes the on-going stimulus for the auditory system. The learner develops the ability to monitor his own speech, communication, and decoding (for reading). In addition, activities emphasize systematic, structured and intensive instruction to develop the necessary phonemic awareness skills for auditory processing, word attack, and spelling strategies for simple, complex and multi-syllable words.

Attention Focus Training uses a combination of balance, movement, and reflex integration activities to increase the ability to attend to tasks. Students are taught to take an active role in learning by recognizing when they lose focus and consciously regaining control.

The Listening Program uses music and sound stimulation to re-educate the auditory pathways in order to increased attention, listening, sensory integration, communication, and physical coordination.

inTime Listening Program provides progressive rhythm-based training across four frequency zones, stimulating different brain areas and their related functions. It is designed to stimulate rhythm awareness, focus, timing precision, and adaptive responses to stress.

Executive Function Skill Development is a program developed by LEC that focuses on the development of advanced study skills, time management and organizational skills, which are important in school success, particularly in the upper grades. Organizational skills training will focus on understanding the calendar and scheduling, identifying optimum times for learning and methods for gaining information. Additional tasks include outlining, note-taking and test preparation. These skills are important for studying different types of assignments or tests (true/false, multiple choice and essay). Techniques to assist in development of each of these skills benefit performance and reduce stress associated with assignments and learning.
